Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton promised to build a modern electrical grid to aid clean energy and praised Iowa for adding 30 percent wind power capacity at a rally in Des Moines, Iowa.
In contrast, at a rally in Abingdon, Virginia, Republican nominee Donald Trump focused on coal , calling the 2016 election "the last shot" for miners.
Seemingly comparing U.S. and Chinese regulations on coal, Trump said, "They're not cleaning it. Believe me, they're not cleaning it. We have a very, very small planet compared to the universe, right? And that stuff is going up and they're not cleaning it."
